PJ has given us an intimate yet epic, strategic yet tactical, & political yet personal story of the first interstellar war. He was kind enough to consult on much of my story and take my thoughts about his.

If you haven’t yet started, his epic is nearing its end. You should definitely start today!

But the big way to move out of the system was military service. Reman soldiers would fight in skirmishes with the Klingons, in the suppressing of the Haakona rebellions and most importantly provide ground contingents during the Earth-Romulan war. See @intheraptorsclaws.bsky.social for details

#OnThisDay, 2146:

USS Benjamin Franklin is launched. The lead of the Franklin-class, a replacement for the Intrepid-class frigate, it is the first Earth-built ship capable of Warp 4.

And with that, Part 2 is done! Now we move into the backstretch of the war, where the Coalition of Planets starts to win this thing.

It'll still be a long road, though, getting from there to here...

Chapter 16 – Galorndon Core: “Sink the Praetor!”
I don’t give a damn what you have to do. Beg, borrow, or steal if you have to. I cannot abide that behemoth at liberty in human space even one moment longer. – Priyanka Patel, United Earth Prime Minister

On that, we agree. Insurrection *is* boring and forgettable. At best it’s one of those TNG two-parters that kinda sucks and you just sorta let slide out of your brain. Better than the Twain one, worse than Descent.

What I’m saying is I think Nemesis is actively awful

Not sure I would go that far (Insurrection is more forgettable than actively awful), but to each their own

The addition of the Remans was extremely important for flashing out the Romulan Empire as an empire and not just a nebulously defined Planet of Hats.

They have been vital to our project, as a handy solution to the “how do you have land battles in the ERW w/o ever seeing the Romulans?” problem too

Star Trek Nemesis was released 22 years ago today.

This film is generally reviled when I post about it. Please say one thing you like about this film.
