How to ID the pups: Cedar has more silver guard hairs on his back and face and a narrower muzzle, while Rowan has a broader muzzle and fewer silver hairs. Personality traits: Rowan is laid-back and more dominant, whereas Cedar tends to be anxious in new situations. Pups are 22 lbs. at 2months old.

Ely, Minnesota, experienced a snowy winter that left a heavy snowpack and ice in the exhibit enclosure. As spring approached, the melting snow began to create vernal pools—temporary bodies of water that form in mid to late spring as the temperatures rise and the ground begins to thaw.

Wolves are opportunistic carnivores, primarily eating meat based on location and season. In the Arctic, they hunt caribou and musk oxen in winter and snowshoe hare in summer. In Minnesota, they mainly eat whitetail deer and moose in winter, and beaver and snowshoe hare in summer.
