I get you. I've had instances of being disappointed in the general direction of a series, like Final Fantasy for example, but the series is so meaningful to me that it still makes the new entries worth playing even though I might not be keen on the changes they've made.

I think it's fine to have criticisms of something while still enjoying it? The more you enjoy a series the more you want it to be the best that it can be, so fans tend to be the most critical about the things they love.
