Don’t know what to suggest Fiona. Have you tried your local MP, or a free half hour with a lawyers office. I’ve had help in the past from a lawyer that worked with CAB. Can only wish you well with the process Fiona and hope you find closure soon.

Planners realised there wasn’t much in or around the town to sustain it. That group isnt interested in employment opportunities. So none provided or proposed. Tourist attractions weren’t built. A huge influx of retirees wanted it to remain quietly Victorian. Arbiter of its own demise eventually.

Mutual admiration society of two. Do you take tea with or without sugar ?

Pretty much applies to most things in life. If one doesn’t discuss anything, how would you know youre not getting ripped off, paying for rubbish, or not getting good value. I like to think my hard earned cash is well spent.

Opt outs are opt outs however they’re obtained. They had made a good enough case to get the ones they had. I see no reason why it couldn’t be done again….had they stayed in the EU ? Nothing is static in life, everything evolves. That’s why there are professional negotiators ?

Doesn’t she get embarrassed sitting on the toilet ? I mean….anyone could be waiting to ignore her outside the bathroom window. How stupid would Patel look with some industrial grade ignoring going on ?

In my experience that’s very true, even having done 7yrs in Local Authority as an engineering draughtsman. What seriously raises my pissed off levels at the higher department levels where people seriously suffer and theres no accountability. www.disabilitynewsservice.com/dwp-hounded-...
DWP hounded disabled woman for years before her ‘starvation’ death, papers show
A disabled woman whose body was found in her flat months after all her benefits had been removed had been hounded for years by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and repeatedly failed by o…

I never mind admitting I was wrong, always open to changing my mind having heard alternative considerations. It’s impossible to consider every aspect of any issue without talking about it. That’s how we move on or improve things.

Land in the South West is very expensive, but they do use brown field sites. The difficulty is with developers that want cheap fixes to difficult problems. Locally an old quarry turned into a lake. Got filled in and built on. Big problem was the permanently saturated gardens growing Bullrushes.

Forgot to say. I’m fairly sure those with a personal agenda or ulterior motives, will engage in any emotive or demonising rhetoric to get their point over. As people get told what they want to hear, few verify anything. They don’t want facts or perspectives…

Same as they did for opt outs when we were members and making a special case for the UK not having the Euro but retaining sterling. Were plenty of special arrangements for numerous states ? Surely the basis for any legislation is to start somewhere and amend it as necessary ?

Thank you Tina. I’ve also noticed the level of conversation has taken an upturn in quality too. Issues and subjects discussed a little more adroitly. Not so many childish tantrums ?

That’s taken out.

Yup 100% (again). We’re all grown ups and allowed differences of opinion. We don’t all have to get along 100% of the time. But 99% of the people I’ve come across, don’t start getting aggressive and threatening just cos I don’t agree with them. Most are cuddly pussy cats 🐈‍⬛ !

….and the legislation couldn’t have been amended in extreme situations to cope. Over and above the process we already had, had we stayed in the EU ? I always thought all legislation or laws could be amended. One doesn’t need to keep starting at the beginning from a default of no provision ?
November 17, 2025 at 10:24 AM
Yup, nazis did that too…

Still waiting for an answer from my Brexiteer brothers about what was the problem with the original legislation we had ? All I get is - Sovereignty, Protect our borders, when Farage is PM and he’ll introduce all the new laws ! They won’t explain why he needs to ?

Sounds like he’s suffering from - Bovine spongiform encephalopathy ! Except Republicans have a problem with long words, so for them it’s - Mad Cow Disease !

They’re hoping that peasants have short memories.

Well, theres no picking bones out of that. Certainly clear and concise. I hope it gets read and digested. Is there anything I can do in support of your quest for accountability ? Kinda suggests to me that accountability through official channels is a paper exercise and sounds good rhetorically ?
