God I hate that the rest of my professional life is going to be dedicated to avoiding having to work with people like this at all cost. Those maintainers are so much more chill about all that than I ever could be.

Took me even longer to realize I was the source of that anxiety for other engineers at times. So perhaps my perception of this phenomenon is influenced by those early years, and I assume it's there even when maybe it's not. But it's not a fun thing for people to have to navigate.

It's nice to be part of the in-group after all, and it felt good having your technical contributions recognized, even if it was at the expense of other engineers. But it took me a long time to get past the anxiety of opening PRs I knew would be reviewed by certain engineers.

I'm jealous, anecdotally of course but I feel like most orgs I've worked in had some version of this, though I didn't really know what to call it until now. Startups were worse, but even at bigger places it simmered under the surface, and I hate to admit that I contributed to it early in my career.

In the same vein as Le Swan, Le Baratin is a super cute and reasonably priced French bistro in the west end with great steak frites. If you're down for a tasting menu DaiLo has one of the best in the city. Second PAI and Koh Lipe, and Khao San Road is another great Thai option. Enjoy the trip!

Damn that sounds amazing, do you have a recipe somewhere? Got a batch of clarified jungle birds in the fridge that I'm gonna have to replace soon and I don't use Batavia Arrack enough.

Cloudflare is the best I've found, for the domains that they support. They claim to offer domains at cost, and while there's no first-year promos really, renewals have been as cheap or cheaper than anywhere else I've tried (Namecheap and NameSilo mainly).
