A new report from Natural Resources Wales has found that almost 3,000 species are at risk of disappearing from Wales. Steve Ormerod said the climate emergency and agricultural intensification were key pressures in the crisis.

Severe flooding in Sumatra following Cyclone Senyar was intensified by deforestation and soil degradation, which reduced the land’s capacity to absorb rainfall. Restoring forests and soil health is essential to reduce flood risks and maintain ecosystem resilience.
