Mostly.

Relating this to my writing process, where it can be any or all of these.

I'm curious - Where in your creative process does the meaning become clear?
Is it before you start -
Did you envision the home as a nest and then create it?
During -
As you placed the feather did you suddenly realize?
After -
Did you look at your finished work and see it?

Or more than one of those

"the quiet ache of waiting: a carefully gathered nest, a single striped feather, and the hope of what’s not yet here. It’s a meditation on shelter, preparation, and trust"

Life as a retiree on a fixed income ... that pretty much nails it.

They're for decoration. They're props.
They weren't purchased for their literary value. The owners don't intend to read them. They want to look intelligent in their online meetings. They generally don't know the titles or authors because that's not why they bought them.

That's apparently a designer thing.
You can buy sets of color-matched books online. They're not for reading.
Actually buying a book because of its cover.
And I agree with you.

I need to add "no carolers" to our "no solicitors" sign.
I do a pretty good cranky/crazy old man when the solar people show up. Not sure that would work here ...

There's a story in that ... I mean I once read a story in which a person's skeleton left. It was a short story, writer, title unremembered by me, as it goes.
The image of the person described like a jellyfish on the beach, eyes looking up helplessly - that stuck in my head.

Unique. Intriguing. Thought provoking.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that we live in the desert, but this caught my eye. It resonates on a couple levels ... not the least of which is the shared ancestry of lizards and birds.
Layers of imagery.

The speed with which this change was made indicates it was already a done deal.

That quote always resonates with me.
Blake describes my philosophy on life ... in a nutshell.

I think you encapsulated the situation perfectly.
Impermanence - quite appropriate.

"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner".
Excellent movie. And apropos for this photo.
