Been thinking of frontier models as utilities. I don't pay the same each month for power. Faming it that way also implies that good solutions must reduce the cost for users by leveraging SLMs in combination with more expensive LLMs. It's like adding solar or energy efficient appliances. Thoughts?

I know you're not a fan of AI agentic stuff. For me frustration with storybook and react led me to building a framework that includes a MCP server to facilitate what I get storybook while using vanilla web APIs. Current goals is a tool to truly enable AI-Assisted design of a design system.

I wish you luck. I gave up on that years ago. Storybook really isn't great at that. I really recommend not even considering anything custom element related. Don't get me started on lack of real SSR support.

The advice I would have my younger self would of been to look pass the CSS and to the abstractions you're using to apply the styles and build the DOM. I did that and developed a styling solution that did both, by dropping template literals and embracing JSX. It's a technique I call style hoisting.

The biggest challenge for me was efficient style reuse between light and shadow dom. Also scoped classes are still worth it even with shadow dom.
