iirc the dev has said that in the current version of the game perks become available much faster than they will in the full release for playtesting purposes, no idea what that will look like though. spending attribute points for them is an idea that fills me with dread /pos

i loved destiny's shader system, it was so easy to make nearly any loadout look good and have a variety of themes depending on your mood. i had different shader setups for each subclass

a 20XX sniper will win any 1v1, sure, but I think if you put a team of 20XX snipers against a team of 20XX players who can pick any class they want, i don't think the snipers win that

as you pointed out, there are some things that even a perfect sniper just cannot deal with. and yes, many of those counters do require teamwork just to deal with One Guy, but i think that's fine because you can't ignore the team aspect in an intrinsically team-based, objective-based game

i think i object to the notion of an infinite skill ceiling on principle, because when you deal with topics like this you're inevitably going to start approaching the 20XX problem, but the nature of the FPS genre throws a wrench into that because they are intrinsically not complete information games
