Bookshelves in Canada, heart in Ireland. Also art, embroidery, travel, languages and social history. Trying to avoid politics, but…
Going to be funny when froglet is a towering 14 year old. I tried to call my daughter owlet for a while, but it didn’t take (and her little brother an Eaglet was even more fleeting).

Oh surely this is just bait for @ifbookspod.bsky.social and not a real thing people buy

Frenglish/Franglais is amazing. Bilingual teens in Ottawa and Gatineau are amazing. Three switches between language per sentence.

Oh no. Infinite ways this could go wrong.

Had no idea my uni roommate was bilingual until I walked in one day and she was chattering to her Memere on the phone about ‘le multivitamin’.

Like you could see the sense of his mortality dawn in his eyes as a result of his (gross, dumb) attempts to hit on a baby when he’d just meant to compliment a fuzzy polar bear coat.

Best story ever was when 1) an elderly man complimented my baby son and 2) we told him nicely she was a girl (think he asked the name or we wouldn’t have bothered). 3) he ‘joked’ about asking her out in 20 years then 4) realized that he was already in his 80s and wouldn’t be around.

My grandmother sure wouldn’t have propped a framed painting directly above the stove, that’s for sure. In any era.

I love names!

Torsten
Tristan
Caspar
Silas
Jonah

Or just Peter. No one is named Peter in this generation, and it’s a solid name. Also Martin.

I hate the flower one where she uses her phone to decide which flowers
Go with hydeangeas. All of them! And ask the person selling you the flowers.

We had a group costume fall apart because of group dynamics (grade 4). Luckily before I bought a Mira wig. Instead my kid repurposed her Hermione costume into a schoolgirl vampire.

Damn, hadn’t seen that one before. Thanks!

Briefly did it, it’s extremely hard with watercolour paints and sweaty kids. Also do not have open ended requests, just stick to classics (pokeball, stars, tiger face etc).

Yes, tv before bed is cuddling time with mommy. Doesn’t count. Even if we’re now watching kids reality cooking competitions instead of bluey.

And you don’t think they’ll really say Ah Goo ‘cause that’s in cartoons but they really do! Some babies also really say waaah exactly like that and not just wails.

Wow, impressive kid!

My city used to do an annual Touch a Truck where they filled a shopping centre parking lot with construction trucks and an ambulance or fire truck and kids could sit in them. It was the best! The ambulance guys would show off their gear too.
