Ah but the Swedes basically said “we’ll have everything except the euro and defence” and the EU said yes. With GB we’ll have a long list of vested-interest claims that we’ll spend years trying to negotiate, they’ll give us 1 or 2 after 4 years and we’ll claim it as a win.

If you participated in the advisory referendum, then you absolutely did. Thats hiw the unwritten ethereal UK constitution works. You (the British people) provided legal and moral cover for parliament to remove those rights. Absolutely.100%.

My guess is that the point he is trying to make is that some people didnt vote for it.

Yes it was. There was an advisory referendum, then, in line withe UK mantra “Parliment is sovereign”, the democratic UK parliament took the decision to implement the result of the referendum

If the UK had a real constitution, rather than a bunch of conventions that seem to be made up on the fly, maybe it would say something different. But it doesnt.

You don't get to write the rules for Ireland. If you are British then go and write the laws for Britain or campaign to change them. That you have some control over.
