My solution is a tad expensive but works for me: keep it physical; tactile. Print articles. Shrink them down to several pages per sheet, even if it's illegible/just an abstract (you have PDFs). Order by date; set on shelf in labeled binders. Seeing info arrayed in the physical world helps me digest.
