I agree, it's hard to have a real convo. I wasn't calling you out, just pointing out that disabled people (like PwME) are twice as likely to be targets of DV. Coping skills have nothing to do with it. My partner caused my inflammation and that's 100% on him.

Inadequate coping skills? What skills should I have used when I was sick and trapped in domestic violence?

A library book about domestic violence saved my life. Thank you for posting this.

Oh yes, I loved that book too. The Hobbit. The Chronicles of Narnia. The Little House books before I knew how problematic they were. The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper. Anything by Robin McKinley.

Thank you. I've been disabled so long I forget that people believe this. They also think that if they get sick/hurt, a doctor will make it all better, and I must have done something wrong to be disabled.

This is the necessary context I've been looking for in all the online discourse. Thank you for pointing out the bigger picture.

Love. The people who would miss me if I was gone. All the love I still want to show the people who matter. Sheer stubbornness. Hope, because I've been at rock bottom before and things have always changed sooner or later.

Folks love to quote @timothysnyder.bsky.social, often "don't obey in advance" but there're further lessons—So what’s keeping you from wearing a mask? It’s easy to fall in step if there are only maskless faces around you; break the spell of denial, set the example—we must protect the health we have.

When my PEM is bad, I slur my words. I've been accused of being drunk or taking drugs (I don't use substances).

5. Remember, you're doing this out of love. Love for yourself, love for the people who truly care about you and want the best for you. You're worth it.
