One thing I don't understand is that the graphs *are* bad. Look at graphs of unemployment, inflation, wage stagnation, etc., etc. and shit looks dire. What graphs are they using to show that things are somehow good???

I'm actually doing great right now. There's this little sewer I've taken up residence in and it's super cozy. It has wifi (somehow), free pickles, and the plumbing is great! Thinking about starting a community garden.

This is way dumber than I thought what was gonna happen. I thought they were going to manipulate the photos, photoshop them (badly) and call it a day. This is so, so much lazier.

In many ways, the "soviet union" feels like this....nostalgic dream. One that I can only read about in history books and decipher through a shroud of lies. I'm interested in this dream, because I think it can help us fix our broken reality. But people keep on telling me to go back to sleep.

I think about this a lot. To me, it seems, a lot of anticommunism is rooted in people's vague and cloudy understandings concerning the soviet union. There's an ideological veil, a fog of coldwar propaganda that prevents people from seeing things clearly.

Even if this mfer lived in a damn palace, he could just look up the data; costs of living, wage stagnation, etc. Like... what the fuck? Even the average hateful conservative doesn't deny the basic fact that shit's more expensive. They just blame immigrants. What is happening here? So confusing.

The obtuse discourse around the "loneliness epidemic" has highlighted to me one thing. When people refuse to understand the power dynamics of capitalism, then those people will forever be mystified by the world around them. Ignorance and dissatisfaction coupled together, quickly turns to hatred.

I talk about this a lot on this site, particularly because I've had to quote-unquote "uncover" this idea for myself. While there's been a lot of "loneliness epidemic" discourse for many years, none of it was satisfactory for obvious reasons (e.g., misogyny).
