I totally shared this with Gabriel and we both agree. The world is better with you in it. 🙌 Love you!!

Thanks @hankgreen.bsky.social for helping GA. You didn’t have to use your platform to help us. You helped us deliver a decisive “GET FUCKED” to the incumbents on the PSC. You and I may not see completely eye to eye on the mechanics of social media, but you’re a good person doing great things.

And the Memory Alpha listing for Bjo feckin sucks. Lincoln Enterprises was a HUGE deal for 1967. Without it, we wouldn’t have Roddenberry.com, licensed toys and props, games, none of it.

I get your meaning. Truly. And maybe I’m a bit biased and get my feathers ruffled when this topic comes up, especially when “contribution” gets relegated to aired script counts. I know Judy and Bjo personally, so it makes me probably a little more defensive of their work.

What?! She quite literally worked in the production office and was on Gene’s staff…

Except for the fact that those 4 women radically changed the canon in ways that have echoed through everything else after it; Judy Burns created the Tholians and Shari Lewis created Memory Alpha. Hardly exceptions

There were a TON of women on and off screen who influenced Star Trek. In addition to Lucille Ball, no one these days ever thinks of Bjo Trimble who lead the letter-writing campaign when NBC tried to cancel the show in season 2.

Umm… an exception?
• Jean Lisette Aroeste ("Is There in Truth No Beauty?" and "All Our Yesterdays")
• Margaret Armen ("The Gamesters of Triskelion,” "The Paradise Syndrome,” "The Cloud Minders")
• Shari Lewis ("The Lights of Zetar")
• Judy Burns ("The Tholian Web")

Which is wholeheartedly beside the point. Lucy believed in the show and what Gene was trying to say through storytelling in TV. When the pilot episode “The Cage” was rejected, she bucked the Desilu Board and ordered a second pilot. If it hadn’t been for Lucille Ball, Star Trek wouldn’t exist.

County school systems receive, on average, 20% of their yearly budget from the US Department of Education. When the department of education goes away, that 20% goes away. Guess how it will be made up…
