Oh, I'm sure it'll be popular and successful. We're overdue for a space opera that isn't Star Trek, and the subject matter is timely. I'm just hard to please!

Which will still leave me frustrated at Blake's badly explained re-appearance in the final episode of TOS.

Anyway, I'm not sure I can watch a B7 without Paul Darrow in it.

Besides, they'll be pleasantly surprised at how many Americans agree with them.

Well, I'm out of date on where Word is these days, since it's no longer in my daily toolset. But I'd assume that LLM tech will infiltrate its grammar checker soon, if it hasn't already. Microsoft is in FOMA mode on all thing AI.

Here's my excuse to state my long-standing prejudice: whether based on newfangled ML tech or old fashioned pattern matching, grammar checkers are irritating mechanical kibitzers that interfere with you developing an intuitive feel for clear and expressive language.
January 20, 2026 at 5:32 PM
Spell check, by all means, but if you think LLMs are evil, you should be wary of grammar checkers, which are beginning to incorporate that tech.

Do you only do superheroes these days? Because this story would make a good comic book.

It amuses me that this cast photo excludes Blake. Writing out your title character after just two seasons is such a British thing to do!

What, you never fired and reloaded your muzzle-loaded musket while running? Wimp!

Yeah, I did assume that parrots wouldn't be native that far north. Perhaps I should have said "feral" rather than "wild." But that would have spoiled the joke.

Learning that England has wild parakeets has overturned a *lot* of my preconceptions.
