📢 The welfare state is under pressure globally. Cuts to social services are rising while 2 billion people live without protection.

From poverty, inequality to #ClimateChange + migration, can #WSSD2 in Doha this Nov tackle the biggest challenges of our time?

#FfD4 is far from the milestone for global economic governance reform it could have been.

For #CivilSociety, it's clear that the job is not done. We need real reform, not a watered-down consensus.

A large, diverse crowd of protesters gathers beneath las Setas in Seville, Spain, holding colorful signs and banners advocating for economic justice, climate action, and global equity. Prominent signs include messages like "Dignity Not Debt" and "Global Economic Justice Now." A large inflatable globe is also visible. Overlaid at the top of the image is bold white text reading: "FfD4: JOB NOT DONE!"

Back from the disappointing UN Conference on Financing for Development #FfD4, with 50+ heads of state, high-level participants +6,000 private sector participants/lobbyists. The outcome doesn't have the level of ambition needed for current crises; often it perpetuates structural problems

Why wouldn't we want multinational corporations to pay their share of taxes? It's mind-boggling. #FfD4

For a decade, we've been told blended finance would turn "billions into trillions." The reality? Just $15 billion annually—less than 0.4% of the $4 trillion needed for SDGs.

We can’t ignore the human rights impacts of budget cuts & austerity.

Powerful @endausterity.bsky.social panel at #FFD4 on alternatives to budget cuts for investing in universal social protection & public services.

The most common austerity measure? Slashing social protection—replacing universal programs w narrow, means-tested safety nets. @isabelortiz.bsky.social

It was a great privilege to present our Jubilee Report on Sovereign Debt findings and recommendations to Cardinal Parolin. We look forward to the work we will continue to do to redesign global debt architecture. Countries must be able to strengthen critical areas like health and education.
