Luc Besson’s Dracula, a comedy-romance in the antipodes of Coppola and Eggers, bringing the story to Paris, visually intelligent including some amazingly choreographed scenes, likely to be polarizing and hated by some, but its imaginative approach worked for me. In Mexican theaters.

The book was edited by Noell Birondo, who also wrote an introduction to Pereda’s thought and co-translated the text with Andres Bonilla. It means a lot to have a philosophy book and I hope it is the first of many.

I am very happy to receive, after a one-year hiatus, the 17th book in the Critical Mexican Studies series at Vanderbilt UP, Carlos Pereda’s Mexico Unveiled, a collection of three philosophical essays on the changing notion of being Mexican and other topics, by one of Mexico’s top philosophers.
