3. Clacton. So much to say.

Please do think of us when you have a minute.

BTW, the soft play thing - the rollers? Yup. The fear when you think you'll be trapped and the feral toddlers will ....

2. Your absolute passion for sweaty 19C grapplers - seriously, it's such a pleasure following the triple narratives of your serious research, the TV interpretation, and the interaction of the two.

1. Your career path - so cool how you've balanced everything and twisted and turned like a real person, rather than a UCAS avatar

Sarah, you are SO busy, and certainly fighting the good fight in Clacton. Please do give a thought to us in Aylesbury when you have a moment. I can promise you a captive audience, some biscuits, and a lanyard. Though you'll need to give that back.
Things I think our students would 'vibe' with (ugh):

We don't use textbooks as we did. Trust History teachers to hold the line - we always have.

Looking at that building, you'd probably write a hugely successful YA novel, which gets turned into a Netflix series only to be cancelled as things really get going.

Glen, this is fantastic. Please can you let me know the source of the quote? I'd like to share with colleagues and students? Thanks so much

I can't speak for all History teachers, but we see you Sarah. You are not alone - the reason I still do what I do in the school you went to is because of students like you! And we know that it doesn't always translate into standard lesson enthusiasts - some students live in books, and that's ok!

"What I agree in July needs to be done in October, isn't really going to be acknowledged until next June" needs to be in the header of every teacher's appraisal doc

Oh yes. A trap I fall into, even after 25 years!
