The crust (roasted and ground hazelnuts, sugar, butter, rice flour) is done! Now goes to freezer to set before baking.
(Side note- nothing can beat the smell off freshly roasted hazelnuts!)

I absolutely loved painting this model, she has so much character, so different than the stereotypical heroes.
I hope I was able to give her the ambience she deserves. :)
Giving a try to simulate turquoise was another fun challenge.

Absolutely the most satisfying moment in this hobby: adding a catchlight to an eye to make the figure come alive. 🤩 (assuming you don’t end up with a major screw-up.)

Turkish Breakfast - the best way to enjoy the remaining amazing tomatoes from our backyard as the summer comes to an end.
I have maybe 10 tomatoes left, which means we will soon revert back to eating demi-tomatoes from the market until next July.

I find cooking for a crowd the most therapeutic activity that lifts my spirits. There is nothing like serving a big dinner to friends to share the joy and laughter after a tough, busy work week. ❤️

After so many pauses I will call her complete.
This was a tough one to paint and I ended up changing palette few times - thus took months and months to finish.

in 2016, shortly after the elections, I posted a summary of our experience in Turkey prior to moving to here, and shared the fear of a similar path. Our US friends reassured us "it would never happen this way here, we have established systems, checks & balances etc."
Sadly, I think we have a bingo.

It should be illegal to market a mixed powder of salts and flavorings as “liquid IV” for hydration.
Literally there is nothing liquid in this pouch other than bunch of salts one would get from eating a pickle. And certainly it is not administered intravenously.
