I like the part of my job where I help people see the humanity in it, all the decisions made that lead to that final product. When people see that, it usually gets them excited too.

This is a film carried entirely by its actors. Everything else was average to below average, so it kind of averages out to about 5/10 for me lol

I thought it was a shame too since the female lead actually felt like a textured character with internal conflict. Most of it is sanded away when romance is involved, but still.

When all the film's efforts to characterize them are about how "they are more than their condition", they start feeling less like people and more like symbols. The performances from the leads give them just enough pathos that it doesn't totally feel like an afterschool special, but only barely.

The leads are both decent people and fair enough that love at first sight is a real thing, but we don't see the leads actually get to know each other. Whenever they talk to each other it's only about how madly in love they are.
