The Nommo are primordial ancestor spirits in the mythology of the Dogon people of Mali, Africa. The Nommo are said to be hermaphroditic, amphibious, fish-like people who came from the sky to bring great wisdom. Modern myths have the Nommo coming from a planet orbiting the star Sirius.

I learned of the spells that cause men illness, the plague, blindness, insanity, and even death. I learned of the various classes of demons and evil gods that exist, and of the old legends concerning the Ancient Ones.
