John Choi is the new tubist for the King’s Brass and completed his first tour with the group this summer. Originally from Burke, Virginia, John is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Tuba Performance at Campbellsville University in Kentucky with Andrew Doub of the Louisville Orchestra.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim Self, a cherished member of the ITEA family and a true inspiration to all. Jim will be missed but will live on through his recordings, Award, compositions, and long history of generosity.

Hiroshi Nakachi is the new Principal Tuba of The Metropolitan Opera, where he began performing in March of 2025 after a successful audition. Hiroshi is a native of Osaka, Japan and pursued studies at Osaka University of Arts and Zurich University of the Arts.
