John Choi is the new tubist for the King’s Brass and completed his first tour with the group this summer. Originally from Burke, Virginia, John is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Tuba Performance at Campbellsville University in Kentucky with Andrew Doub of the Louisville Orchestra.

For this holiday edition of Meet the Member, we have the pleasure of featuring a pillar of our community, Hiram Diaz. Diaz is a Gunnery Sargent in the Marine Corps and has been a member and Associate Principal Euphonium of the “President’s Own” Marine Band for well over a decade.

Hiroshi Nakachi is the new Principal Tuba of The Metropolitan Opera, where he began performing in March of 2025 after a successful audition. Hiroshi is a native of Osaka, Japan and pursued studies at Osaka University of Arts and Zurich University of the Arts.
