I like technology a whole bunch.
Not if he considers it divine intervention.

With this information, we'll start seeing "great deals" on fading hardware. Who'd pass up an i7 with 32GB RAM when most people need an i5 with 16GB? Microsoft's decision relegates great hardware to e-waste.

...Me? I installed #debian #linux on my AMD 5800x desktop yesternight.

Examples:
"This is an Intel i5 9500k!" - No. Works currently, but by fall, it will lose support.
"...i9 11100H" - Yes; this is 11th gen.

"...AMD 2600x CPU" - yes, for now. This is true currently.
"...AMD Ryzen 1800" - no. This was always a Win11 no.

Buy carefully.

The question to ask is: "Does this contain a eleventh-gen Intel CPU?"

If the answer is no, then don't buy,

I'm still waiting to learn if AMD CPUs are impacted; currently AMD Ryzen CPUs in the 2000-series range are good, but this may change.

February 13,2025.

Bay and Gerrard

Last night brought an incredibly heavy snowfall. This is a separated grade bike lane. After seeingbthree cyclists on Bay, I took this shot.

Seems used to me.

In a month or so, the #Ontario Progressive Conservative under #Dougford party will rip out these separated lanes, undoing a decade of work to make cycling safer and more accessible. They passed a law to override Toronto's own will on the topic.

And the battlecry?

"Nobody cycles in the Winter".

In one case, I saw someone walking a #bikeshareto bike across Yonge to continue on Wellesley, where there is construction obstructing a bike lane.

On average I might see a 1-2 cyclists cruising every thirty seconds. And in some stretches of Bloor where there are separated lanes, I see more.

This is a wonderful cause and I hope that they're able to support the people who want to realize the truest versions of themselves!
