Everyone says this but my understanding is vaccination and testing numbers don’t support it. The easily observed reality of masking in, say, healthcare settings certainly doesn’t align with a commitment to public health.

Finished Eastward this weekend. What a weird little gem! Beautiful, aesthetic backgrounds, great character animation, full of quirk. Soundtrack’s full of bops.

Also the premise of taking this live-action family film about a hockey team and making into a sci-fi superhero series reminds me of those Garfield Pet Force books from around the same time.

Just one more season bro.

Really dig the blinking recording light on the new Nothing Phone. Think every phone should come with one. Wouldn’t be mad at a mandatory shutter sound either.

lmao that was the worst possible screenshot I could’ve taken because 2 of the 3 were self-titled. Here’s a better shot showing they’re all flipped!

Trying out Plex for the first time and these album listings are so jarring.

As an example: what’s the benefit to having these menus hidden off-screen behind a swipe or cursor peek? For advanced users, it’ll probably be annoying to invoke every time, but it won’t be obvious to many that there’s a menu there at all. Going to download the beta now to see how it feels.

Thinking this through more and what I’m actually responding to is the UI, not the windowing itself. There’s layers of hidden/collapsing navs that appear in slightly different places and are supplemented by menus that only exist off-screen—but only sometimes. It seems a little messy and inconsistent?

I sort of wonder if losing the concept of Spaces and dropping the Split View and Slide Over features—while seemingly leaving the app switcher largely untouched—is the right move? But I am excited to see some iPad mini parity. Hopefully they’ll do proper monitor support for it too.
June 15, 2025 at 6:44 PM
The issue is Stage Manager defies expectations by presenting as windowed experience for iPad apps but then launching them like their iOS apps. So each app opens in a new Stage and you have to constantly bring them to the previous one, which takes ~3 taps at minimum. It’s strange and confusing!
June 15, 2025 at 6:07 PM
Stage Manager was heavily criticized but the underlying idea seemed to be Spaces on iPad and there’s still something to that. But 1: Macs already had Spaces. And 2: It tries to allow windowing but reserves lots of screen for its UI (~10% on a Mac), and felt a little unfinished and unpredictable.

Like I’m looking at this screenshot and I see no less than 6–7 ellipses/meatball/traffic light menus, 2 expandable drawers, and a collapsible nav bar. There may be more—windows can apparently be hidden off-screen. Do people even use apps like this?

Just crossing the halfway point on the Mario Kart World download so I guess it’s time to dip into today’s other arrival.

Never really played this one, but somehow I had the the case and manual and thought I’d complete the set. It’s supposedly pretty rough but it might be a fun time

And from the second link I posted: “Even in school districts where students were in person for the whole year, test scores still declined substantially on average”
May 17, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Not sure what you mean? From study 1: “Test scores declined more in places where the COVID death rate was higher… This is true even in places where schools closed only very briefly at the start of the pandemic.”

Hey @polygon.com little confused about this one. I’m not seeing the deal?

The support page lists iPhone 15 Pro and above as meeting requirements for Intelligence but there's separate OS
requirements (iOS 18.2+).

Here's the setting on my iPhone 13 mini (RIP).

Well that’s new. I’ve only had this happen on one other controller: the 8BitDo Pro. Think I was playing Celeste then too
