NGL, the behind-the-scenes debacle behind this movie is arguably more interesting than the muddle of the movie itself. Wonderful soundtrack and direction regardless, though!

I hear it's #WIPWednesday. Well, I guess I could share a snippet of Chapter Four of "Ollie's Journal". Subject to change before final posting, of course. ;)

My flip-flops waited for me by the front door. In short order, I made my way into the night. No way to outrun the voice in my head, of course… but I could maybe stifle it for a while. “I know the neighborhood at night. The guys and I would go out for midnight strolls now and then, weather permitting. It felt lonelier without them, but then everything does nowadays. It’s like there’s this hole in my heart that won’t close unless the guys come back. “Part of me sees it as an albatross around my neck, weighing me down forever. Another has hope that with time, it’ll heal and I’ll be able to move on. But I’m still so young. I often say I feel mature, but I still don’t feel like an adult. There are always reminders that I certainly am not. And this inability to know if this hole in my heart will heal is one of those. I simply don’t have the life experience. “I wonder if one day I’ll look up and say, ‘Oh, I feel like a grown man now. Great! Time to act like an adult!’ “Does anyone ever have a moment like that? Is it that simple? I make it sound like a switch gets flipped in someone’s brain. “Eventually, I made it to Rowan Park. To my surprise, there was someone on the bench near the pavilion. Leonard Teague sat, hunched over in his custom-made robe. At his size it looked like he was folded almost double. I noted with some dismay that he was crying. Each little sob made his mighty chest wobble.”
