#Echinococcus induces production of parasite-specific IgE antibodies. Sudden rupture of an echinococcal cyst can cause anaphylactic reaction due to rapid release of large quantities of helminth antigens. Treatment: albendazole.

n humans, #echinoccus travel to visceral organs, primarily the liver and/or lungs, and grow into large cysts known as hydatid cysts. The inner membrane of hydatid cysts is composed of a germinal layer of pluripotential cells, each of which can develop into its own cyst.

#echinococcus granulosus tapeworm infection of dogs which utilizes sheep, goats as intermediate hosts. Humans are accidental hosts that can become infected with larval stage after ingestion of eggs in food or water contaminated w/ dog feces

A diagnosis can be made by examination of the worm or finding its eggs in a fecal specimen. Morphologic diagnostic features included the characteristic bosses on the anterior portion of the worm #gongylonema

#Gongylonema parasite uses various insects such as beetles and cockroaches as intermediate hosts, and in humans, the accidental ingestion of an infected insect can result in infection. In humans, this parasite usually manifests in the oral cavity and removal is curative

worm was identified as #Gongylonema spp., a spiruroid nematode rarely reported in humans. Gongylonema pulchrum (primary species to infect humans) has a broad definitive host range in nature, including dogs, cats, ruminants, skunks, and birds and distribution is cosmopolitan.
