Out of thousands of available architectural practices, we probably use only three: microservices, REST, and endless attempts to convince our teams to update library versions.

My mentor is not teaching or leading me.
He is indoctrinating me.

He claims:

"Teaching MLTT, HoTT, inductive types, process algebras/pi-calculus, topos encodings, hopf fibrations, and other pop stuff that will make you completely unemployable."

And this is a thick joke.

Refactor bad code whenever you spot it.
No excuses.
Don't misunderstand - I'm not talking about factoring (people often confuse these terms).
Code factoring is a separate complex topic that could distract from your current task.
Simple refactoring can always be performed quickly. So do it!

What do you affectionately call your junior developers?
Especially when they bring crappy merge requests on the table?🙂‍↔️

software engineering past the “senior” level becomes less about raw coding ability and more about being trusted to deliver increasingly large, complex, or critical projects

that includes navigating competing stakeholder priorities, team dynamics, being a role model, training, and more
