My bad, I never finished this game. I stopped back when I got really into game preservation and realized how often rereleases change the original experience. I decided to wait until I had a PC to emulate the OG dreamcast version. That was in 2019 and I completely forgot to ever go back and play it 💀

Maybe it looked better on the original hardware, but holy shit, that’s an awful-looking skybox. I wonder if this is from the current Code: Veronica X rereleases, or if the original Dreamcast release looked different.

If you need a stable emulator and a ROM, let me know. Also, I highly recommend playing the GameCube version on an emulator like Dolphin. It actually looks cleaner than the GOG version.

With the exception of a few cinematic shots and the music, I don’t think there’s anything really good about the first movie. It feels like somebody spat in my face for liking Silent Hill 1. Now that I’ve spoiled myself on RtSH, it feels like Gans is throwing shit in my face instead of just spitting.

I still find it hilarious that the writer-director claimed he wanted to outdo Revelations, only to deliver something that’s much worse. When someone clearly has no grasp of the source material, they have no business adapting it. Gans should have stayed in his nursing home.

I appreciate its love for the series as a whole, the reference to the Brethren Moons was great. I also appreciate them fixing the plothole with Isaac protecting "Nicole" while she opens the door for him and the alternate ending was a cool addition. It's a game I've loved replaying again and again.

I wouldn’t call that a plot hole, they just made that section more meaningful. I am a bit disappointed it’s much shorter, tho. The best thing about the remake is how it takes the strongest parts of the trilogy and expands on them. I never thought the DS3 side missions could work, but they did it.
