I'm with you here. Can't underestimate the magical potential of language, and its ability to shift both our perception of and actual lived experiences. Some things can be known, but rarely does that knowing solely come from a textual tradition without more synthesis.

oh that’s interesting! not directly related to your q but have often felt that star parans ought to be considered similarly, since the heliacal rising of stars tends to be observed during nautical twilight / pre dawn.

so ie: you can tell the planetary day/hour of the nativity and that is meaningful, but the nativity itself wouldn’t necessarily determine the way one personally relates to the planetary hours and days, if that makes sense.

yes you’re correct that it’s connected to sect in the sense that the planetary starts at dawn and switches at sunset! but as far as I know, it’s generally more relative to one’s geocentric position, not specifically determined by the nativity itself.

generally from a classical pov the planetary days/nights/hours exist relative to the spheres and one's location/seasonal light, so natal sect wouldn't really be a factor. though I'm sure some use it this way!
