On International Mountain Day, we’re reminded that mountains sustain billions with water, culture, and biodiversity—yet remain hotspots of climate risk. Those who contributed least to the crisis are hit first, even as global commitments stall.

My first triathlon with barely any training, I showed up for the experience and it reminded me how powerful it is to say YES to something unfamiliar. XTERRA Begnas: 750m swim/14km bike/6km run, finished in 2h42m (6th among women). The real win was stepping outside my comfort zone. #Nepal

A call to action: This piece urges leaders to rethink assumptions, centre people, and confront the climate crisis with bold, disruptive ideas. Progress never came from playing it safe and neither will climate solutions. #COP30 @icimod.bsky.social

The Himalayas show us both beauty and fragility. Without smart planning, trails erode and communities bear the cost. But climate-resilient, people-centered tourism can protect landscapes and livelihoods. The future isn’t just about peaks, but shared prosperity and resilient trails. 🏔️

Last night I joined NatGeo Young Explorer Rohit Giri for a night walk in Godawari forest. From snake eggs to frogs & mushrooms, the forest came alive in the dark. Every stream & pool sustains this life — a reminder this #WorldWaterWeek that water is biodiversity’s lifeline. @icimod.bsky.social

The cryosphere is in deepest crisis—but is anyone really listening? ❄️
Glaciers are vanishing, permafrost is thawing, and snow is disappearing. The alarm bells are deafening. Yet global action remains painfully slow. #Cryosphere #ClimateCrisis

Glaciers across the Hindu Kush Himalayas are retreating at alarming rates. The South Col Glacier in Everest has lost more than 180ft (54m) of thickness in the last 25 years, thinning 80 times faster than it first took the ice to form on the surface.
