I didn't really read it as someone with a disease is less than human, but how disease can rob someone of their own humanity. But I understand your perspective and how it could be offensive in that way.

Going in, I thought it would be a basic monster movie. My mom does suffer from Parkinson's and is losing her ability to communicate. Watching Blake slowly lose his humanity, particularly the scenes where the world goes monochrome and he can no longer communicate gutted me, I was not prepared.
