#fediforum is over. All went well. Good discussions, great keynote, amazing demos. Attendees seem to be happy, or so they said.

Time for a nap.

I declare I have earned it! Ha!

@johannab yep, it’s just the fediverse. Or livable cities. Or climate action. We are building a new world.

@reiver @tchambers @andypiper we could do a little trial balloon first. Short online event. Talks not unconference (unconferences need high bandwidth back and forth conversations) English only. Signup form that asks people for their languages. See how many people we can reach and based on that […]

The fediverse is a little bit like that for social media:

When the established systems fail, volunteers establish alternatives.

@tchambers @andypiper happy to do that assume we have enough connections into the ask an fediverse communities that would actually come.

Regardless how well one is trying to do things in advance, the last day(s) before #fediforum are always busy!!

(now back to work!)

A really "Interesting" dynamic: the ruling, autocratic party steers the citizens of the country to a social media platform run by the son-in-law on the grounds of not being subject to US billionaire propaganda […]

@naturzukunft https://fediforum.org hat einen count down, der, glaube ich, korrekt ist. Und die QiQo invite E-mail hat einen Link zu einem iCAL Kalendar-Invite File, das in UTC ist.

What @andypiper and I tried to do was more a developer networking kind of meeting, where new developers can ask questions, or people can show off what they are currently working on. Not FediForum-style “product demos” but “look at this piece of code that I got to work this week” kind of show and […]

@reiver A lot of it has been focusing on the kinds of things standards org do — chartering working groups producing reports, getting consensus on prioritization for standards work going forward etc. But there are also community updates and things like that.

@reiver You might recall @andypiper and I tried to do a monthly fediverse developer meetup for a while, and whilewe did, but couldn’t sustain it. Would be great to revive something like it!
Any time compatible with my time zone would be fine.

We now support Fediverse sharing of long form text attachment
#Fediverse Threads

Long form text attachment will now be federated. Let me know if you see any issue.

The canceling of ICEBlock is more evidence, were any needed, that the Web is the platform of the future, the only platform without a controlling vendor. Anything controversial should be available through a pure browser interface.

@ozoned @fediforum great idea, we should do some brainstorming on how we want the open social web to look like some years out!

@mackuba.eu @ozoned

For me, the biggest questions still remains: what is the business model that justifies the money already invested in Bsky and the future, larger amounts of money that still need to be invested to get to break-even and beyond, at a multiple that makes the VCs at least […]

FediForum is coming up. It's an unconference, so the agenda is set by the attendees, but we do know that it will be unmissable, featuring a keynote from @ben and sessions from people like @quillmatiq, @j12t, @johannab and more. Here's the schedule, plus some of what's on the cards […]

The EFF says Meta (and others) are censoring information about abortion. They have an entire campaign.

With my #fediforum attendee hat on, rather than the organizer hat on, here are some things I want to discuss with you all:

Upcoming legal requirements for social media interop (utah, other us states, eu dma revision etc) – how does this impact our community?

From millions to billions – what is […]

If as the boss, you give the big speech to a few hundred of your most direct reports, and none of them claps … you are pretty much finished, aren’t you?

I mean what constructive thing could possibly happen after that?

I’m reading a book that has “extremely upper management” in it.

I think I’m going to make myself a sign for my door.
