It's interesting to me that the first four instances are actually different applications; Mastodon as #1, then PixelFed, Loops, and Lemmy. I would've guessed that the non-Mastodon servers would be much less populous, but I guess they are also more centralized.

I think about this a lot, actually. Something I've heard about Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (I've seen Blade Runner but not read the book) is that the backstory behind "More human than human" is that while AI got better, humans became more robotic. I wonder if we're on that trajectory.
