See, I nearly mentioned Brunton the Butler in my initial post, but I don't think when people say "The butler did it", the "it" they're referring to is being left to die in a hole!

I *have* had someone with a very big platform share something which did move the needle a bit (a nice push of the snowball!) ... but subsequently stuff came out about that person that now makes that connection feel repulsive to me. 🤷

I've never gone viral, but I know multiple people who have for something unconnected from their main body of work - and I think there's often a sense of frustration in having your biggest impact online be something which isn't your passion, or something which fizzled out quickly.

I've been making creative works online half my life, and I keep rolling that snowball. You can try to research good snowball-rolling techniques and that does help, but they might not work.
Sometimes the snowball falls apart and you have to start again.
