Last week I became a Docent in zoophysiology at the university of Gothenburg, with my lecture on 'Fish health and welfare in recirculating aquaculture systems'.

It is my pleasure to present the latest special issue of the Journal of Fish Biology which I had the pleasure supervise as guest Editor. In this issue we collected nine articles on current aspects within welfare and resilience in aquaculture.
