It’s the last one that bothers me the most: so many people aren’t aware of what’s happening right now. Sometimes I forget that large numbers of people simply don’t check the news daily or pay any attention to local/national politics.

I wish I shared your optimism. All of the evidence to date points to a defeated public that will lay down and let autocracy roll right over them.
