It’s a wild ride but look at Saturday 🔥

We are back to manageable levels of wind today… wind gusts 25 to 30 mph should mean trash cans stand tall! Still a stiff breeze though. ☀️💨

Forecast Updates!
March 6, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Wednesday continues to look like a washout. Scattered showers in the morning will give way to periods of heavier rain in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be gusty as well, mostly in the 30 to 40 mph gust range. About 1.0 to 1.5 inches of rain expected.
March 4, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Looks mild Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 50s across the region. There could be a few showers around in the afternoon and evening, but overall not a big deal. Timing window for shower activity will be about 3PM to 9PM.
February 25, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Temperature trends are upward… If we get to 47 degrees next Tuesday I’m setting up the kiddie pool in my backyard.
February 21, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Please respect the weather this evening and stay off the roads unless emergency/essential. Very hazardous conditions are expected as winds gust 50+ mph and any water freezes solid! Lots of branches hanging low already.

We are still on for snow Saturday night into Sunday. Roughly 8PM to 8AM. I like 3-6 inches.
February 7, 2025 at 2:06 AM
Trends today have been colder and snowier for Saturday night into Sunday. This is good news in terms of less ice, although the European model still has some. I still like roughly 8PM to 8AM for the timing window. Looks like a decent shot at 3 to 6 inches on the latest ensembles below.

Models are coming into better agreement on shutting schools down Thursday. Looks like period of snow to wintery mix with cold air reinforced at the surface. Could be significant travel impacts in my opinion.

Official #ClosingCast map. No major changes to thinking. Steadiest snow moves out just before midnight, leaving a lot of time for DOT crews to go to work. Still, if higher totals verify or if we see some freezing drizzle after midnight I could see a few delays pop. Right around 2” expected,

Lots of #Clippers this year. The next comes in Sunday evening into Sunday night. Thinking general timing is about 5PM to midnight. The first flakes to fall may actually be Long Island Sound effect snow as we get into a SE flow ahead of the system. Around an inch across interior CT.
February 1, 2025 at 3:40 PM
The pattern ahead looks very active with several storms tracking over the country the next 10 to 15 days. It won’t be particularly cold, but each system will have its own version of “kitchen sink” precipitation. These are the fun CT systems that give us snow to mix to rain then freeze up after.

Some thoughts on wintery mix chance tomorrow morning.

Winds were even stronger today, with gusts 50+ across Western areas. Impressive! This led to several damage reports from shingles blown off in New Fairfield to trees and power lines down in Danbury and New Milford, as well as other communities.

Winds will slowly wind down this evening.

It’s been a cold stretch and a couple more chances for snow upcoming this week. Stay tuned.

Headlines: It’s cold and the police are investigating a shooting in Brookfield this evening.

Colder than my wife’s shoulder this morning 😂
January 22, 2025 at 1:12 PM
It hurt my soul to make this graphic, but look how impressive today’s snow event was on the Gulf Coast. Many records were broken that dated back to a snowstorm in 1895. New Orleans, for example, has never seen a foot of snow before today! It’s still snowing in FL too!
January 22, 2025 at 12:58 AM
Bundle up this morning! Officially made it down to -6F last night at Danbury Airport. Impressive! Coldest low last winter was 6 above. 🥶
January 21, 2025 at 12:52 PM
It’s sunny out right now.. but snow is on the way this afternoon and evening.
January 19, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Midday models are in. No major changes to the narrative for tomorrow. Both GFS and Euro feature a storm track just inside the famous 40/70 benchmark. Looks like a nice setup for Western CT snow to me. To address all question on storm timing… the blend here is about 2PM Sunday to 2AM Monday.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for alll of interior CT and adjacent NY from Sunday afternoon through late Sunday night. The current NWS forecast is for 5 to 8 inches of snow within the watch area.

Scattered light flurries have moved into the region. No impacts thus far, but we’ll see if anything steadier forms as our trough moves through between 6PM and 12AM. Kind of hit or miss in these scenarios, but always best to keep an eye on it as some spots could get a coating.
