Somewhat chaotic week for tunes

music n' that from the last week

Gradually coming to accept that Stars of the Lid could be the goat - their music genuinely makes me feel emotions I'm not sure are possible to express through language. RIP Brian.

Reckon that new Joanne Robertson is gonna be my go-to sad boi autumn album. Two tracks already out are fantastic.

Took me a while to put my finger on what it reminded me of but the bass line on the new tame impala tune sounds like it's taken straight from an early Pantha du Prince record

Feel like could do with a new The Field album round about now

Great little dessert island political organising literature @medicinered.bsky.social

Funny how Corbyn era 1.0 was "JC, no surrender, 4 day week and a 3 day bender " and now it's "JC, no surrender, stop enabling a literal genocide".

Not that the stakes weren't high before but...

"statutory guidance for governing bodies" - you don't say. Actual government department using the dodgy as fuck supreme court ruling to carte blanche undermine trans rights further with no evidential basis. Denying something exists in sex ed has always gone so well in the past eh?

🆕🚨 New statutory Relationships and Sex Education guidance published today will:

- Restrict schools from using materials that "encourage pupils to question their gender"
- Teaches children the laws about "biological sex"
- Removes all references to the word transgender

What we know so far 🧵
Logo of the Department of Education. Title: Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education. Subtitle: Statutory guidance for governing bodies, proprietors, head teachers, principals, senior leadership teams, and teachers. Dated July 2025

usually get my chug fill on Richard Sen's show on Do You but good to come across some in the wild

Albums from the last week.

Check out Duncan Gray's back-catalogue if you fancy some low bpm chuggy/mutant disco type stuff. Sound of the summer.

The tracks 'Proper Bogan' and 'The Weak Nuclear Force' particular highlights for moi

That Kasper Bjørke remix EP is a belter, remember hearing the Johannes Albert one played by Richard Sen a few months ago

matt healys "no politics just vibes" spiel coked off his nut last night was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever witnessed in my life. Imagine being at the pyramid stage at Glastonbury and not hearing a single cheer

That Lauer album really is a modern classic for me. Been a while since listened to all the remixes which are also great. Still a bit obsessed with that king creosote album for my sins.

As one-shot joke ultradork t-shirts go, it's pretty good
A t-shirt that says "Autechre' and then it's Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer in their fishing gear

Music from the last week. Lots of stuff I find myself returning to a lot and some new finds. Reckon Shlomo - Bad Vibes could be cementing itself as up there with my all time faves.

Title track and Somebody are amazing. Somebody sort of reminds me of his early Mister Saturday Night tracks but more smooth, buttery, and polished

haven't posted the weekly albums in a while - been some absolutely cracking new music this year

Also been listening back to the Autechre 6 Music shows and some albums after copping tickets for them in Glasgow (insanely buzzed for this)

still think one of my favourite records from them is Chiastic Slide, which goes without saying that the artwork is extremely cool for
