The autumnal equinox is one of the melancholic corners of the year - the summer’s over, the nights are getting longer, and the beer’s getting darker - and there’s sense of time slipping away. This is a piece I recorded a few years about how we mark out the passing of time over the span of our lives.

Castlerigg Stone Circle in the Lake District, photographed using a 1953 Elioflex camera. The site probably served a religious and social function - a high place to be nearer to the old gods perhaps, and also close to a neolithic axe factory.
