Gaza starting to resemble Marinka - a Donbas town Russia shelled off the face of the earth - in the drone footage others posting on Insta. Wildly bleak.

Say you earn an elite level salary, £250k a year, £145k after tax. That puts you in the top 1% of earners. And yet even with a 10% deposit you would still be earning nowhere near enough to get a suitable mortgage to buy this unremarkable house.

And that's not even for a particularly desirable area. The above house is in Camberwell, South London.

If you wanted something comparable in uber gentrified Islington it would be £4.75m.

Honestly wtf is going on with my country.

Who allowed this to happen?

Look at this house. It's a perfectly nice house but it's not a remarkable house. It's the sort of house a doctor or a lawyer should be able to buy as a family home. A nice Georgian terrace. But because it's in London, it's 2 point 3 million quid.

£2.3m. 🤯..

Videos of Alawites being massacred in Syrian coastal heartlands circulating on the Syria logistics groups this afternoon. Follows the reported ambush of HTS fighters by Assad loyalists earlier this week. Grim

I took this photo in Pokrovsk in September sort of sensing the transient nature of the photo opp, driving back to Kyiv.

Now, a few months on, the Russians are closing in.

HTS reportedly killed a regime guy who was identified in the street, shot and stabbed, somewhere on the periphery, There are these portents of how it may unravel.

Maybe the Islamists will inherit the deep state. Or maybe it will descend into sectarian chaos.

But today there was hope.

Central Damascus today was like nothing I've ever seen before. Everyone and their grandma came, just high on the moment. Hijabi aunties dancing around with young lads, kids hoisted onto shoulders and bounced around, people driving bikes through the crowd, riding horses. I'll never forget it.

We went back to Sednaya prison again today. So many people with missing loved ones. The anger there was real, some chanted death to the Alawites [Assad's sect], who represent only about 10% of the population. You can't but suspect another sectarian meltdown may be returning to the Levant.

I photographed a ledger of names at Sednaya prison outside Damascus today, shooting for Channel 4. It listed people who had been executed at the facility. The place was overrun. Without electronic key codes, some are still trapped in cells deep inside. Wild scenes

I took off from Istanbul today and the rebels had taken Homs, by the time I arrived in Beirut the Assad regime was over.

Insane.
