Do high costs disincentivize bad actors who post spam jobs? From my perspective, high costs for job postings seem as anachronistic as hotel-room interviews.

And yes, my history department is hiring a tenure-track job this year. I'll post the position when it's available.

My college will be posting jobs in the near future, and we largely skip the largest orgs. like @historians.org due to costs. Are the fees from job listings so lucrative? I know non-profit orgs struggle with fundraising, so maybe job listings are a key revenue source.

Venture Bikes on the greenway offer a wash for $20. Haven‘t had a chance to use it, but a midwinter wash seems a great option.

Adding a around $5604.10/ semester (tuition & fees at Winona State University) would make it around $24,000 more. All in, that would be around 40K, but that's before books, lodging, food, or any other extras.

. . . but I would argue that is because MN State Employees have livable wages due to union contracts, and thus our quality of life and hiring standards can be higher. Other states pay poverty wages for instructors, which requires teaching more students and classes per instructor.

Tuition and fees for a 60 credit AA degree at my community college is $13132.8. Slightly more if students take health science or online classes, which most do. My college offers Z-degrees, which is degrees w/ 0 textbooks costs. MN's community colleges are more expensive than some other states. . .

A great way to start my day. There's no way to appreciate this beauty at 45 mpg. Happy first week of studded bike tire commuting to those who celebrate.

Also, "theology" qualifies as a professional degree? No access to health care, but bigoted-for-profit seminary can pump out MA theology graduates with US govt backing? Jesus wept. Not what was meant by "suffer the children."

It's not nefarious, I actually don't think the faculty developer has any background with LLM, Gen Ai, Neural Networks and the like. She's just parroting the ecosystem.

Yes! I had a micro-modem (802.11a) I tried to give away for 5 years and was eventually trashed by someone tired of seeing it in my classroom :)

One perspective: I tried giving away my old router to students when my family upgraded and rarely got any takers. So I had router "office art" for 18 months before I recycled it.
