immigration news record keeping account plus brief explainers
My group was able to recover a spent canister from a green smoke grenade in Minneapolis. We now confirm with physical evidence that it was a green signaling grenade.

Please don't spread rumors about hexachloroethane or nerve agents.

update on this, it was announced in last year but flew under the radar
It appears the jetway photos at Logan were part of CBP "biometric exit" program, which has been tested for years but was quietly approved for wider rollout in Sept. (Doesn't explain threats to passenger)

Some really creepy, damning details in NYT report from Sept: www.nytimes.com/2025/09/26/t...

this is a immigration policy expert explaining that ice has the authority to arrest citizens so people don't go have interactions with them under false beliefs

we're not on different sides of this issue. reasonable suspicion or whatever is a different legal debate
Flatly wrong. No, it is not true that ICE only has jurisdiction over immigration issues and can’t arrest citizens. Immigration officers have authority to criminally arrest anyone for any “offense against the United States” (interfering with a federal officer would count) and any felony they witness.
I'm hearing a lot of talk that they did not have legal authority to compel a U.S. citizen to exit her car, what's your take on that?

if the reasonable suspicion is true that's a different debate

we're not on different sides on this issue

there's more to the thread if you click on it
I wouldn't argue with the immigration policy expert below

any federal agent has jurisdiction to arrest us citizens

as aaron explains below, if they have a reason or not is another legal issue

they can and clearly will stop and arrest whoever they want

do not think your papers of citizenship will save you

this is not to discourage but to caution
I keep emphasizing this point because I am worried that some US citizens who are doing rapid response may have the false belief that it is illegal for ICE/Border Patrol to arrest them, and out of this incorrect belief respond in ways that make it *more likely* they get arrested or brutalized.

people losing their minds over being corrected on topics they are not experts are exhausting good grief
this is terrible, true and doesn't mean the messenger is okay with the current policies

it's exhausting as a expectator already, can't imagine what's like to be on the receiving end

your post was about ice not having authority to arrest us citizen which they do, i'm not arguing about anything else
