Not exactly what you're referring to but I'm sure Charli XCX used to be rendered 'charli xcx'

What's his voting record as a Senator like?

I recognise that I'm just a different type of boomer for making this generalisation, but I think kids these days don't get enough engagement. I feel I was a good kid because my parents were always talking to me and indulging my niche interests, not because they were relatively strict.

It may have changed in the last five years, but the Conservative Society were pretty normal back when I was at Keele. The three parties (which, combined, were about 20 people) used to act like a single society to hold events for politicos.

I feel the only reasonable response to the question of whether Reform could form the next government at this point is "it's far more likely than it should be". Difficult to put exact odds on it.

What does one expect to find when they Google random terms like this?

90% of my Google searches are because I'm too lazy to type out the URL, and the others are basically questions expressed as a bunch of key words.

I'd probably use "Green Parties" plural even if they were one party, because it'd be describing regional sub-parties either way.

I had predicted, pre-YP and pre-Polanski, that a Labour defector, probably Sultana, had a pretty good chance of leading the Greens by 2029.

It was admittedly wide odds, but the Labour left needed a vehicle and the Greens needed somebody with energy and a national profile leading them.

The right has largely been able to abandon economics entirely, because the media won't pull them up on it and people have this weird belief that if a party doesn't talk about something, they must have good ideas.

I miss the good old days, when Rylan Clark was likeable enough for a Doctor Who cameo. The good old days of (checks notes) May 2025.

...is that not how it's pronounced?

I don't see it as a progressive/reactionary thing, more of an optimist/pessimist thing. I hate to admit it, but when I read optimistic sci-fi, it just doesn't feel realistic to me.

I remember wording a complaint about their live blog deadnaming Brianna Ghey very carefully, because I knew they would just be like "sorry you were offended". I was absolutely clear that my issue was that it wasn't in the public interest.

Reply was "sorry you were offended".

I've not been in work since I finished my postgrad degree, and I did value the work environment because it reminded me that most people were normal.

I get it in spurts. Have been reading the Expanse books for about two years now. Read the third and fourth in the matter of weeks, the fifth over a few months, and have been trying for a year to start on the sixth.

I'm not a computer scientist, but I think as long as you know the source of the documents you're opening it should be fine? I've seen people still using Office 2007.

I think my main objection to ChatGPT etc. is the fact that it seems unstructured, and you can never really tell if it's genuinely useful or not, hence people using it as anything and everything.

Once they integrate AI into the places it's useful and it's proven to work, I'll be much more open.

I described it yesterday as "more or less the same but now they look like they make bouncy castles"

I think polling has shown pretty consistently that people understand 'left' and 'right' as political concepts, and I struggle to imagine a voter familiar with Corbyn who'd be completely unfamiliar with the concept of him being 'left-wing'.
