Hi, I'm Kevin, Game Creative Assistant for UnEpic Games which means I help Fran make awesome indie games.

I was known for my full time talk shows/indie game content on Twitch and the live events I ran at conventions.

I love video games, anime, Earthdawn TTRPG and sharing awkward dad thoughts.

See, you're already ahead of the game!

(Side note: Sometimes dads are proud of their dad jokes that have a layer of sincerity, knowing that explaining that makes it less funny/clever)

Good job, I'm happy for you. I have a game to suggest to you. I do it sometimes. Literally just step outside a front door or porch door. Stand in the air for 2 minutes and just listen/observe the sounds around you.

Don't know why I like that game so much. But it's one I should play more often.

#Earthdawn: Benevolence — "Raising the Stakes"
A party is gathering for their own devices, diving deep into some ancient caves to investigate the lore behind one of their magical shields. 7th circle session, more dangerous than usual.

We'll know it.

Challenge: In the 1-2 minutes of browsing here, click like on a different post/skeet that you appreciate. You know, the one you would have liked but just scrolled past instead of hitting the like button?

Liking this post doesn't count though. Pay it forward, not backwards. #SkeetpreciateSaturday

Meeting's cancelled, it was actually just an email.

Makes complete sense

Nervousness is the opposing side of the coin to excitement. When you say one, it's viable to consider saying the other in most occasions.

You are equally feeling both when faced with something important but unknown in your immediate future.

Savor this moment, friend.

Hah, not all of it. A handful of people still replied or reached out since then, referencing Bluesky posts.

I'm grateful that it sparked that, personally.
jacklifear.bsky.social
And yes, I know I just posted the same GIF 3 (now 4) times in a row. Sometimes seeing something familiar is more important than seeing something new.

A lesson to consider when you feel lost in the chaos.

I rarely post on social media these days because that little voice in my head says "No likes, no listen". But we know it's wrong. People may read this as they scroll past. I'll write my genuine thoughts and I hope it gives a few friends a moment to slow down before rushing to the next distraction

I've found times in my life trying to make posts to get attention get no attention. That sitting in a quiet room alone makes your thoughts the loudest. And knowing so many people doesn't mean they try to know you.

I know I'm not alone in this. Maybe that's why I'm posting it for others to read.

I remember when I got on Bluesky, I loved it. Felt like old days. But as time went by I realized it wasn't Bluesky that I loved, it was the fact that people were out of their shells replying to old friends like it was 2014

Reiterates a good lesson:
the people around you matter, the metrics don't.

I don't mean to be contrary because I agree with your point, but I think your 100 is missing a few zeros.

It takes about 2ish days for JUST Steam to release 100 indie games these days.

If you're this far, thanks for looking. A lot of my friends say I should post more things I'm passionately working on and here it is.

Reply and give me any thoughts, feedback or questions you may have. Especially if you appreciated it, helps me judge if I should share more in the future

It's been fun to explore gameplay genres within a TTRPG. I've inspired sessions from "Papers, Please", "Real-Time strategy", "Thief", "Stardew Valley", "Job Simulators", "Cosmic Horror", "Noir", "Ocean's 11" ... and now"Banished".

And of course, my 15 players enjoy the dice & story of their heroes
jacklifear.bsky.social
This minigame is an extension of the actual campaign. The players have travelled here multiple times to investigate issues they experience. To help with city projects, or catch up on children they have grown fond of.

And hope they survive until the next visit. The wilds are brutal in my campaign
jacklifear.bsky.social
The city itself is taken from the foundry map we play on. And as they work to upgrade buildings, they become more efficient. They currently have lvl 3 town walls, lvl 2 smithy, lvl 2 storage, and a lvl 2 privy.

Didn't see that last priority coming.
jacklifear.bsky.social
Every in game month, the village gets a "Portshadow turn". Where they have events happen from in-canon stories, threats, illnesses. They manage resources for sustenance, defense, health. Then craft materials to prepare plans/upgrades for the next turn

The players can use downtime to send shipments
jacklifear.bsky.social
I had it on spreadsheets, with every child of the village having character traits, backstory, motivation, and professions. At this time it's 46 villagers.

Hard to care about words on a spreadsheet, so I made it a Tabletop Sim mod, with meeples of various sizes/colors. Their circular bases are jobs
jacklifear.bsky.social
I've been working on improving some features for our #TTRPG #Earthdawn campaign. There is a small village of children who are surviving in the wilds. I've inspired gameplay from survival city builders like Banished.

To add immersion for my players, I built it as a complete minigame. [Thread🧵]
