Weather not looking good in Arizona. Hurricane could bring flooding to lower Arizona but Northern AZ near Jackson Earth is also under flood warning. I can only hope that the roads survive so when the container arrives on the 1st delivery goes well.

I’m also trying to keep in mind that many of the trees are deciduous and would lose leaves in November anyway. The two that would likely suffer most are the sycamore and the Moringa, all others should be ok.

Unfortunately, no. It has to be “sealed” for insurance. We still have a little time to figure and all of the trees should be able to go 5-7 days hopefully before the stress of no light begins. Shipping trees in boxes usually has 5 days without issue. at this point fingers crossed.

You were pretty close, Rhiannon. The light just shut off. We have about 14 hours using this method. I wish I had time to rig up something different. I will try to take 10 species of tree. The only two that have moderate risk are sycamore and moringa. Issue is, the driver schedule needs 4.5 days.

Running an experiment. The trees will be in a dark container for several days. I have a portable jump start battery pack. The pack is fully charged. I want to see how long the grow lights will last while using that power source. If it is enough to jump start a car, maybe enough for LEDs.

@kellouise.bsky.social have ordered 200lbs of the cat liter / animal bedding. I am picking it up Tuesday. Also have mulch, and coconut fiber. I had no idea the “cat liter” could be so cheap. 40lb bag at a feed store is only 5 bucks. It is used for cat liter as well as bedding for animals.

@typenamehere.bsky.social looks like you called it, again. I was checking the trail cam settings and see i can set it to take a picture every 5-10 minutes. i can then use those images to do a time lapse of the build.

Yep! I might buy the pipe in Kingman, AZ unless I get time before the container leaves. No matter what, yes. I will document the process. It is similar to a “Groasis”, only using whatever is laying around a garage. Toilet tank beeswax, spare pipe, dollar store rope. Trying low tech approach.

After weather station and pergola are up, trees planted, a new tilt and pan camera will monitor. We can all watch as I fail miserably or succeed. I am also using the shade suggestion from followers. let’s watch together. Any tips, please let me know before Oct 27 when the container departs.

Cutting PVC pipe 36” capping off both ends. I will drill a small hole and add clothes line from the dollar store (cotton rope) and seal it with beeswax. The top end, will be a removable cap. I bury this pipe near the root system. Fill the pipe with water and cap it for slow release of water.

The mulched leaves should bring the pH to a more neutral level in time. I will also add Sulphur. The ratio is kind of weird, for every five gallons of soil (mixing) only 1 tablespoon of sulphur is needed. I will include, biochar, humic acid, and a dash of mycorrhizal and clay pebbles.

All ordering is complete, next on the old to-do list: Rake leaves at Bob’s Juicy Orchard. I will mulch as many leaves as I can, place them in a vacuum bag, normally used for mattresses. Those leaves will be added to the soil in arizona tree plantings. Also getting GPS tracking for the container.

2026 visit: Using 450 watts of solar power, the AWC Atmospheric Water Condenser will be added to the cistern, this will provide up to 9 gallons of water per day from the air, yes, even in the desert, enough for test trees. In 2026 we will begin the septic design and Well in late fall of that year.
