WH seemingly confirmed earlier today that the address is just gonna be touting 2025 “accomplishments” by the administration

Did you mean opening day 2027?
December 16, 2025 at 4:13 AM
Yeah there are certainly better stats for pitchers than ERA, I’m just pushing back on “it’s batting average for pitchers”. ERA is closer to OPS, which is good at showing a batter’s value in a given year, but still isn’t great at predicting future success.

I would say that ERA is definitely a better stat than BA, since a pitcher’s value is almost entirely determined by the number of runs allowed, and in how many innings they allowed them. This is opposed to BA, which doesn’t give you any context for slug or on-base ability.

"Elite closer" is a bit of a stretch
November 17, 2025 at 1:16 AM
He should be signed ASAP, but has free agency started yet?
November 5, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Achilles tendon?

78-96 is not .453. Math isn’t mathing.
October 30, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Meaning he plays really really well and the Dodgers still lose?
October 22, 2025 at 3:32 PM
My question to you is, when will this go too far in your view? How many more all-stars do they need to sign? How many more World Series’ do they need to reach? I want to believe someone else can break through, but that’s not seeming likely for the foreseeable future.

Giants fan here. Believe me, we certainly try to sign players to big deals, but it just feels hopeless to compete in free agency when you have a team as rich and successful as the Dodgers. I’m not mad at the them for spending like crazy, but what they’ve done exposes the flaws in the system.
October 21, 2025 at 6:39 PM
This is "good for baseball" right?
October 17, 2025 at 2:01 AM
What if the “villain” just wins super easily (the same way they did last year)
October 17, 2025 at 1:16 AM
I’m not having any issues with that.
October 7, 2025 at 1:22 AM
Nobody is forcing you to watch the playoffs. If you want to, you can just say that the Guardians are better because they won the division. Or, if you prefer, you can say that doesn’t matter either since they didn’t win the most games in the AL (meaning they wouldn’t’ve won the pennant 50 years ago).
October 3, 2025 at 1:43 AM
So he’s saying that MLB “lost the plot” 50 years ago?
October 3, 2025 at 1:24 AM
In addition, the Giants are the only team that has neither won nor lost 84+ games in that time, a pretty remarkable stretch of exact mediocrity for a team that is trying to be competitive.
September 29, 2025 at 6:23 PM
I personally don’t know if Melvin deserved to be fired, but the Giants had a lot of expectations once we got to June and they traded for Devers. The complete collapse through July and August (when they had a stretch of dropping 15 of 16 at home) was probably the biggest factor here.
September 29, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Expected stats are funny though, since typically league average xwOBA > league average wOBA, for example. In the end, he ends up with around average expected numbers as well
September 25, 2025 at 5:02 PM
Yeah that’s what I’m saying. I’m always rooting for them to win of course, but had they been a little worse in previous years, they would be in a better spot right now.
September 24, 2025 at 5:17 AM
I knew someone was gonna say "a fitting way to go out", but is it? For much of the season, their main issue was not scoring enough runs. They haven't lost a game in which they score 8 or more runs all year.
September 24, 2025 at 4:59 AM
Sorta? If they were better at it, the last few seasons wouldn't have been so painful
September 24, 2025 at 4:55 AM
Could still happen with the Cardinals & Rockies coming up. Kinda rooting for it to happen just because it would be the funniest possible outcome
