Sounds like they needed a patsy and you were a good target

Then you're already doing the hard work! Congratulations

You don't "buy" a politician by giving money to someone you disagree with and hoping they change their mind.

You "buy" a politician by giving money to someone you agree with and hoping they stay in office.

I hear you, but you are imagining politicians as some distant "other." WE are the politicians. Normal citizens who decide to run for office.

Most politicians aren't out shopping for a party or ideas-- they have those already.

When you call your congressman or attend a rally, you are lobbying.

Do people spend a lot of money on lobbying? Yes.

Is money required? Not necessarily-- but you're going to need more people and time.

There have been some discussions on this, including the "Wyoming Rule" and other concepts that would slowly expand-- one suggests going up to like 675 now and then going up to 1,135 over several years.

There is no law limiting the number, the house is supposed to expand with the population. Congress just hasn't done it. I hadn't thought about the number of seats in the chamber but that is technically true I guess.

Although a proportionally expanded House would have thousands of Representatives.

If we survive the 30s and 40s, and history is any indication, the 2050s are gonna be gangbusters

That's called lobbying, and Americans do a lot of it.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. A wider spread of parties and more direct democracy would undoubtedly be better for America.

But politics isn't black and white. It seems so shady because there are shades to it. We aren't here by accident

I'll take that bet. 38 States required to ratify a constitutional amendment, and the 2030s are going to be global conflict -- climate migration at the equator and resource wars at the poles.

We haven't even expanded the House of Representatives in nearly a century.

It IS unbreakable. You need 3 resources to win an election: Money, People, and Time.

Time is your most valuable resource, because you cannot generate more of it. To mitigate this, you have to constantly cultivate more money & people.

Politics is not evil, people are evil. Support good politicians.
