It sucks and I shouldn't be like this, but this is kind of why I use they/he pronouns instead of they/them because I don't want to deal with the headache of people disrespecting my preferences. I wish the world was a more accepting and kind place.

I've lost track of the amount of times I've heard someone use the wrong pronouns when trying to defend nonbinary people's pronouns. At least they're trying I guess. But holy shit it's really not hard lol.

How I'd approach it is something like, "Sorry if this is a personal question, but my I ask what your age is?"
