Republicans are trying to redraw congressional district lines to keep their grip on Congress in the midterms and beyond.

Voters should pick their politicians, not the other way around.

🚨BREAKING: A Utah court just struck down a GOP gerrymander that dismantled a voter-approved redistricting commission and silenced voters.

Today’s ruling is a reminder that democracy is worth defending. Let’s keep pushing.

3. Places like IL had undercounts, while OH and UT had overcounts.
4. If you only see states as blue and red, as opposed to people, I understand how you might be confused.

OK, a few things on this absurdity:
1. The 2020 Census was conducted by the Trump administration.
2. The only systematic results of undercounts that the Census has acknowledged were undercounting communities of color in almost all states.
JD Vance: "Another crazy thing that I had no idea about, but everybody, even Democrats actually admit this, that the census in 2020 had a major statistical error and what that meant is that you actually undercounted a few states that are Republican."

Thanks to the advocacy of Black Alabamians and organizations like @allontheline.bsky.social, Black voters in Alabama will continue voting in fair congressional districts that allow them to elect candidates of their choice. This is a win for Alabama, and proof that progress is possible.
Alabama intentionally discriminated against Black voters in Congressional redistricting, judges rule
The court-ordered map, used in the 2024 elections, resulted in Alabama electing two Black representatives to Congress for the first time in history.

In 2024, Black Alabamians made history by electing two Black members of Congress when they voted on a congressional map that, for the first time ever, was fair. Thanks to the determination and perseverance of these Black voters, this equal and fair representation will remain in place.

A federal court has reaffirmed that the VRA must be enforced in Alabama—meaning the state must continue to have 2 Black opportunity districts.

Today’s ruling confirms what we’ve known all along: Black Alabamians have a fundamental right to *real* electoral power.

So incredibly proud of our work for @ericholder.bsky.social at @democraticredistricting.com to push for a democracy-minded WI Supreme Court over the years— it’s been a journey since the Dallett race in 2018, but even in the darkest moments, a little spark of hope is what you need to start a fire.
